We have named this robusta coffee from the quiet town of Asipulo, Ifugao. Asipulo might be a small, quiet municipality but we'll let their coffee and its high quality prove that they're at par with the big coffee producers.
The town's name came from the native term “asip” which means scabbard, and “pulo”, which refers to the number 10. It is said that in olden times, when headhunting in the area was still acceptable, 10 unidentified leaders wore around their waists a scabbard with a bolo to act as defenders of their people from hostile tribes.
Pretty cool, ain't it? We'll, you also need someone (or something) to defend you from sleepyness, right?
We're very proud to have partnered with Hojap MPC to bring you their robusta coffee. They aim to restore the coffee industry in the municipality by providing a sustainable market and fair trade price to the coffee farmers. Additionally, it is also in support to their advocacy on preservation of the ecosystem and mitigating climate change caused by global warming.
Its so good to know that the "defenders" still exist in these modern times :)
